# Knot

> Knot (KnotAPI) is the merchant connectivity platform. Its API connects banks, card issuers, fintechs, and wallet providers to their users' online merchant accounts (Amazon, Netflix, Uber, DoorDash, etc.) so partner apps can read and write merchant account data on the user's behalf.

Knot was founded in 2020 and is headquartered in New York City. Integrations pair a client-side SDK (Knot Link, for iOS, Android, React Native, Flutter, and Web) that handles merchant login, MFA, and errors with a server-side REST API and webhooks. Every page on this site is also available as Markdown: send `Accept: text/markdown`, or append `.md` to the path (for example https://www.knotapi.com/cardswitcher.md).

How an agent should use Knot: read the docs (or the docs MCP server) to plan an integration; call the REST API from a server with the customer's `client_id` and `secret` (HTTP Basic auth) against `https://development.knotapi.com` for testing or `https://production.knotapi.com` for live traffic; create a session with Create Session, open the Knot Link SDK with it, then react to webhooks. API keys are issued to Knot customers in the [Knot Dashboard](https://dashboard.knotapi.com); to become a customer, request access at https://www.knotapi.com/demo/.
